Your elbow connects your upper arm and forearm. It is a hinge joint allowing just flexion and extension movements (bending your arm towards you and away from you).
In sporting activities a well-functioning elbow is essential to high performance. Injuring your elbow can have a large impact on your activities of daily living also.
The elbow can become damaged due to a direct trauma such as a fall or it can be due to an overuse injury.

Tennis elbow describes pain on the outside of your elbow where golfers elbow describes pain on the inner side of your elbow.
