ANKLE
Ankle
Your ankle connects your foot and leg. There are 3 joints within your ankle: the subtalar joint, the inferior tibiofibular joint and the ankle joint proper. The joints in your ankle are kept stable with strong ligaments. Your main ankle bones include the tibia and fibula which make up your lower leg and the talus which is in your foot.
Damage can occur to the soft tissues, particularly your ankle ligaments which can cause a sprain and your bones can also become fractured. Any inflammation will cause pain and injury that may affect the functioning of your ankle and if the structures supporting your ankle are damaged, not seeking correct treatment may mean you could put yourself at risk of further damage.
Physiotherapy is an effective method of rehabilitation for soft tissue injuries and also for rehabilitation post-fracture in order to make sure you return to pre-injury condition.
